Randstad have partnered with a high spec house builder who are based in the Chesterfield area. They focus on providing high quality homes for their customers and have a great reputation throughout the industry. They are seeking an Estimator to join their commercial team, focusing on land appraisals.
Role
The Estimator is responsible for evaluating new land opportunities, developing detailed, fully costed appraisals based on technical drawings and measurements, and assessing their viability before bids are submitted. This role also involves maintaining and updating these appraisals to ensure their accuracy and robustness.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate build costs, including roads, sewers, enabling works, and site setup, by taking off quantities from technical drawings.
Appraisal Development: Assemble and maintain detailed budget cost appraisals, incorporating construction and sales preliminary costs.
Collaboration: Work closely with land, technical, and sales teams to gather comprehensive information for robust appraisals.
Site Analysis: Conduct site visits as needed to understand potential constraints and inform initial appraisals.Qualifications:
ONC, HNC (or equivalent) or qualified by experience.
HND or Degree qualified (desirable).Experience:
Proven experience in the construction industry, preferably within house building.Skills & Attributes:
Strong numerical ability and excellent communication skills.
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, reports, and data.
Ability to work independently and remotely.
Highly motivated, resilient, and an excellent communicator.
