Abatec are excited to be partnered with a leading contractor in the water sector, who support multiple long-term water sector frameworks. We are looking for Project Manager to work on a £150m flagship project in Southampton, an exciting, design and build infrastructure scheme working on behalf of Southern Water.

You will report directly to the Senior Project Manager and your role will be to manage the design, construction, commissioning and putting to work of contracts to ensure they are completed in the most efficient manner to the specification, within the time required and within the tender estimate without risk to the health and safety of all concerned while ensuring good customer satisfaction.

This project is part of Southern Waters AMP8 investment program which has been awarded for an initial seven-year term with an option to extend up to a further 5 years ensuring security of work in the local area. Our client will deliver critical infrastructure upgrades for both water and wastewater treatment works, pumping stations, and reservoirs with AMP8 expected to be the largest investment period so far for Southern Water.

As a Project Manager you will:

* Promote exceptional safety and delivery quality standards to direct and subcontracted work force.

* Ensure that the BMS is implemented at all stages throughout the project delivery process, i.e from tender handover to final completion.

* Maintain good client relationships at all levels.

* Maintain the company’s reputation on a project by ensuring good relationships are maintained with joint venture partners and suppliers.

* Ensure that sufficient trained personnel are available for the project and that they are aware of their individual responsibilities.

* Plan projects, including reviewing and approving the Project Execution Plan (PEP), and then monitoring and controlling the delivery of projects

* Ensure that appropriately detailed construction plans and method statements are prepared, in place and approved prior to commencement of activities.

* Ensure at contract completion that all records referred to in the PEP are complete and available.

* Ensure that all site non-conformities are reported and approximate costs identified.

* Ensure all commercial aspects of the project are managed in a timely and proactive way giving accurate forecast and estimates.

* Have detailed working knowledge and experience of project management practices from scheme conception through to end user acceptance.

* Ensure your own continuous professional development by participating in external networking/conferences/ associations/groups, to stay current on industry changes and innovations.

* Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role

* Understand and implement the quality, safety and environmental policies and targets

* Maintain an appropriate practical knowledge and appreciation of all technical disciplines associated with delivering water and waste water design and build projects.

Our client requires a Project Manager with:

* Project Management experience in managing multi-disciplinary design and construction projects, ideally within the water industry

* Degree or equivalent qualification in a construction, commercial, or engineering related discipline

* Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent

* Knowledge of Construction Contracts, ideally NEC and/or IChemE, with ability to negotiate and administer

* Experience in water and waste water treatment plants

* Chartered with and engineering, commercial, or construction institution

* NEC Project Manager Accreditation

Salary/Benefits:

* £65,000 – £75,000 per annum

* Car allowance – £6,000

* 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

* Option to purchase an additional 5 days leave
