Quantity Surveyor – Construction & Refurbishment

📍 Bristol | 📝 Permanent | 💷 Salary DOE + car allowance, fuel card & benefits

We’re working with a leading contractor to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor, offering a competitive package including car allowance, fuel card, and benefits scheme.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded QS to take full ownership of projects, managing and controlling all financial and technical aspects of contracts — driving value, minimising costs, and ensuring strong cashflow through to final account.

🌟 The role

As Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a key role across a range of construction, refurbishment and/or retrofit projects, with full commercial responsibility from tender through to completion and cash collection.

Your responsibilities will include:

Measurement, pricing and evaluation of tenders
Taking ownership of projects from inception to final account
Identifying opportunities to improve margins and value
Managing costs and setting targets
CVR reporting and accurate forecasting
Administering and managing sub-contractor accounts
Producing and submitting interim and final applications for payment
Supporting Health & Safety compliance from a commercial perspective
Developing and maintaining strong subcontract and supplier relationships

✅ What we’re looking for

We’d love to hear from candidates who bring:

A recognised professional qualification (e.g. HNC/HND/Degree/Diploma) or equivalent experience
Previous experience within construction, refurbishment, retrofit or fabric upgrade projects desirable
Familiarity with bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and design & build contracts
Proven experience in commercial management and subcontractor procurement
Strong monthly reporting skills with a keen eye for detail
A collaborative team player who can also work independently and take initiative
Excellent time management and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Confidence working with both direct and subcontract labour
Ability to mentor and support junior team members
Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel
