General Foreman

We’re working with a main contractor to recruit a General Foreman and support the growth of their regional office in Somerset. The business has an outstanding reputation across the South West with experience of delivering complex engineering solutions on some of the region’s largest projects as well as supporting local authorities with minor works.

The role of the General Foreman within this regional team is to support and develop the operational team on a mixture of drainage, highways and structures projects. The project will range in value and duration from a couple of days work to 6 months.

It is essential you have come from a background of being on the tools and can work with junior members of the workforce showing them how to do things correctly and why they’re done in that manner and ultimately supporting them to progress as an operative and individual.

Duties will include:

* Deliver and manage site briefings and toolbox talks

* Record keeping and Health & Safety

* Support, improve and drive the programme of works where possible

* Management of direct labour, plant and sub-contractors

* Problem solving, logistics and end of shift reports
