Engineering Manager – Major Infrastructure Project (A47/A11 Thickthorn Junction)

Location: Norwich, Norfolk
Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary Package: £50,000 – £60,000 + Package

We're partnering with a leading infrastructure contractor to recruit an Engineering Manager for a nationally significant highways project – the A47/A11 Thickthorn Junction scheme. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven engineering leader to join a major project shaping the future of UK infrastructure.

Role Overview:

As Engineering Manager, you'll take ownership of the technical delivery of both temporary and permanent works on site, ensuring seamless integration between design and construction. You'll be the key link between engineering, planning, and site teams – responsible for safe, efficient, and compliant build ability across all phases.

You'll also act as the Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC), leading on method engineering, technical sign-offs, and risk management, with a focus on digital delivery and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage planning, design, installation, and removal of temporary works

Oversee method engineering, build ability, and technical risk sign-off

Review technical documentation and implement best practice construction methods

Coordinate temporary and permanent works design integration

Lead on MARs approvals, quality processes, and materials compliance

Monitor engineering risks – including ground movements and unexpected site conditions

Promote digital delivery (3D models, data handover) and innovation on site

Support technical aspects of procurement and supply chain engagement

Requirements:

Degree in Civil Engineering or substantial practical experience in a similar role

Strong knowledge of The Specification for Highway Works and relevant industry standards

Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, Temporary Works Coordinator, or similar role on major infrastructure projects

Confident managing technical risk, design integration, and cross-disciplinary coordination

Experience with digital engineering tools (desirable)
