Why This Role?
If you're early in your Clerk of Works journey or perhaps some experience in construction, but know you care about quality, client outcomes, and growing professionally, this is a career-launching opportunity. You'll work with a consultancy that’s raising the bar, pushing boundaries, and offering the support you won’t find elsewhere.
About the Role
Up Front Recruitment is proud to be representing a design-led, fast-growing consultancy known for doing things differently. With a people-first mindset, an eye for detail, and a passion for quality, this practice is redefining the traditional Clerk of Works role through a fresh, modern approach.
They’re now seeking an Assistant Clerk of Works to join them. You'll be working alongside experienced Chartered professionals and will be mentored as you progress, whether your background is in site management, project quality, or technical supervision.
This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your career within a business that actively invests in its people, supports chartership, and takes pride in delivering excellence across high-profile developments.
The Role
You'll be site-based, ensuring quality and compliance on projects. Live sites are active in London, Bath, Bristol, and Birmingham, and the business aims to keep you working locally where possible.
Your key responsibilities will include:
*
Supporting Chartered Clerks of Works on live projects
*
Monitoring and reporting on quality of workmanship and materials
*
Acting as the client’s eyes and ears on site
*
Identifying and documenting defects clearly and efficiently
*
Attending site meetings, liaising with contractors, and maintaining strong communication
*
Using digital tools for reporting and documentation
What We're Looking For
This role would suit a young or early-career Clerk of Works, or a Site Manager / Quality Inspector / Construction Professional looking to move into consultancy.
You’ll need to be:
*
Passionate about quality and detail
*
Clear, concise, and confident in your communication
*
Tech-savvy – happy using digital reporting tools
*
Organised and professional on site
*
Keen to progress and grow with support from senior professionals
