Job Title: Site Manager – Substation Refurbishment

Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the delivery of a substation refurbishment project located in North London. This role will require strong site leadership skills and a proven track record of managing works on live National Grid infrastructure. The successful candidate must hold a valid EUSR Person (Substation) qualification in line with National Grid’s NSI 30 compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day site operations to ensure safe and efficient delivery of refurbishment works
* Coordinate subcontractors and trades, ensuring compliance with project timelines and specifications
* Oversee all site-based health and safety practices in line with National Grid protocols and company procedures
* Liaise with project engineers, clients, and internal teams to maintain clear lines of communication and issue resolution
* Review and manage method statements, risk assessments, and work permits (including Permit to Work systems)
* Maintain detailed and accurate site records including progress reports, induction registers, and daily logs
* Chair site meetings, tool box talks, and safety briefings as required
Essential Requirements
* Valid EUSR National Grid Person (Substation) authorisation
* Demonstrable experience in managing National Grid substation or HV refurbishment works
* SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification
* Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations, NSI standards, and temporary works procedures
* Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills
