Health & Safety Advisor – Major Projects
Location: NW10
Employment Type: Contract

A leading contractor is seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join the team on a major project. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in subcontractor operations, a hands-on approach to health and safety management, and the ability to influence and uphold a positive safety culture on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct proactive monitoring of site activities to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Liaise directly with the client on health and safety concerns and provide professional guidance.

*

Investigate incidents, log them using SafetyCulture, and provide actionable lessons learned and improvement strategies.

*

Carry out weekly site inspections using YellowJacket.

*

Recommend and support the closure of outstanding actions and observations.

*

Report immediate safety issues, take appropriate actions including work stoppages where necessary, and provide positive interventions.

*

Raise safety observations and ensure follow-up.

*

Advise site teams on legal compliance and health and safety best practices.

*

Lead bi-weekly Supervisor Safety meetings and attend relevant HS&S meetings.

*

Participate in weekly site health and safety walks.

*

Monitor best practices, incidents, and SHE data to drive improvements in methods and activities.

*

Assess training needs and workforce performance regarding safety standards.

*

Identify competency requirements for upcoming works.

*

Support health and safety initiatives and assist with documentation and RAMS compliance.

*

Act as a cultural leader on site, setting a visible example for safety excellence.

Requirements:

Black or White CSCS card and NEBOSH Construction Certificate.

*

Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally in a subcontractor environment.

Proven ability to write RAMS and develop safe systems of work (not just review).

*

Strong understanding of temporary works.

*

Proficient in IT and safety reporting systems, with SafetyCulture experience essential.

*

Familiarity with YellowJacket (used on Mace projects) is advantageous.

*

Experience working on major projects; DC/MEP experience is beneficial
