Health & Safety Manager

Key Responsibilities

Site Safety & Engagement

* Carry out regular site inspections and audits, identifying potential hazards and ensuring control measures are in place.

* Build strong relationships with project teams, operatives, and site managers to embed a proactive health and safety culture.

* Provide on-site coaching, toolbox talks, and guidance on safe working practices. Grinder training, face-fit training etc.

Health & Safety Administration

* Maintain and update all Health & Safety documentation, including:

* RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)

* Company H&S policies

* Site-specific inductions and procedures

* Manage the accident and incident reporting process, ensuring thorough investigation and root cause analysis.

* Track and maintain registers for CSCS cards, SSSTS/SMSTS certifications, and other training/competency records.

Compliance & Accreditation

* Oversee and manage SSIP accreditations including:

* CHAS, SMAS, ConstructionLine, CQMS

* Ensure all renewals, audits, and submissions are completed accurately and on time.

Key Skills & Attributes

* Excellent knowledge of UK construction H&S legislation and best practices.

* Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills.

* Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.

* Comfortable working both on-site and from office locations.

Qualifications & Experience

* Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent (NEBOSH Construction preferred)

* At least 3 years’ experience in a similar H&S role within the construction sector

* Working knowledge of SSIP schemes and experience managing accreditations

* Competent in writing RAMS and H&S documentation

* Full UK driving licence (essential)
