Senior Quantity Surveyor (Cost Management)

We are currently expanding our operations and are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to be based in our Farringdon office, London. The ideal candidate will be confident, ambitious with a commercial mindset, and willing to work hard in exchange for the ability to be part of an exciting and growing business.
You will be responsible for carrying out pre- and post-contract quantity surveying duties, working on private developments as well as public sector projects, ranging from £1m to £350m.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide best practice cost and commercial skills for specific projects or support as part of a team within a larger programme of work; to ensure that appropriate advice is provided, and timely action is taken to ensure projects are to be completed to programme and budget.
Responsible for effectively managing the commercial resources of a project throughout the project lifecycle to ensure success of the project objectives.
Ensure client needs demands and problems are identified and resolved in a timely manner; to manage stakeholder expectation regarding commissioning and the procurement of services.
Carry out the continuous cost and commercial management and monitoring of projects, ensuring that information is timely and accurate.
Early identification of business risks in projects throughout their lifecycle, from pre- contract to close out, and ensure that risk management, risk registers and contingencies are in place to manage and minimise the risks.
Provide clear leadership to project teams including designers, contractors & suppliers, ensuring that decisions are taken, and instructions are clearly communicated in a timely manner.
Implement K2 Consultancy commercial processes and procedures on projects, and apply continuous improvement approach, to maximise returns in terms of profit.
Establish and maintain robust open and honest reporting structures and monitor resources and costs to ensure that projects meet agreed targets.
Through an in-depth understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes relating to contracts, ensure that K2 Consultancy's position is protected.
Pursue own professional development and provide support and guidance to promote the development of other commercial staff.
Support the set up and administration of key business processes including our process and document storage SharePoint site.
Qualifications:

Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management Degree, or a related field.
MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) – highly desirable.
Alternatively, membership with other recognized bodies such as: CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building)
Experience:

Minimum of 5 years' experience with an RICS qualification or working towards gaining qualification
Examples of projects you have worked on / delivered.
You will have previous experience working on residential projects – desirable.
Skills:

Proven track record of cost management services delivery of building projects from feasibility/option studies through to detailed cost planning and post contract services.
Significant experience in a consultancy environment and working on a variety of projects across several different sectors.
Good knowledge of Value Engineering and Risk Management techniques.
Fully conversant with the principal standard forms of building contracts predominately JCT suite of contracts.
Excellent communication and client facing skills, combined with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
Ability to generate new business enquiries
Office location:
This role will be based in our London office with a minimum of 3 days required in the office. Some travel may be required to our London office for project work.
