Purchaser – Bedford

As a Purchaser, you will take ownership of the procurement process across a range of structural and architectural steelwork projects. You’ll ensure that the right materials are sourced, purchased, and delivered to support project requirements while maintaining cost-effectiveness and quality.

Key Duties:

* Sourcing and procuring steel, fixings, and associated materials for fabrication and installation

* Negotiating with suppliers to achieve the best pricing, quality, and lead times

* Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships

* Scheduling and coordinating deliveries to meet production and project deadlines

* Monitoring stock levels and ensuring timely reordering of materials

* Preparing and issuing purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures

* Working closely with the design, production, and site teams to align procurement with project needs

* Monitoring supplier performance and resolving any supply chain issues

* Supporting budget control and cost reporting through accurate procurement records

* Ensuring all materials and suppliers meet required safety and compliance standards

The Candidate:

* Proven experience in purchasing/procurement within the steelwork, construction, or engineering industries

* Strong negotiation and supplier management skills

* Good knowledge of steel and construction materials

* Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple orders and deadlines

* Strong communication skills for liaising with internal teams and external suppliers

* Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement/order systems

Location & Projects:

* Office-based in Bedford

* Projects across London and the Home Counties
