Site Engineer – Edinburgh (Aviation Projects)

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded Site Engineer who thrives on precision, innovation, and collaboration in high-security, safety-critical settings.
As a key member of the operations team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards-while meeting the unique demands of working airside.
Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Sustainability

Promote and support project HSES targets in a live aviation setting.

Communicate safety best practices across the site team.
Project & Team Leadership

Mentor and support Graduate, Assistant, and Apprentice Engineers.

Contribute to team development and knowledge sharing.
Construction Methodology

Maintain a site diary and share insights with the wider team.

Interpret engineering data and communicate clearly through sketches, calculations, and setting out.

Provide feedback on materials, contractors, and design performance.
Design Coordination & Engineering Information

Review and interrogate design data for suitability.

Raise RFIs and TQs to resolve discrepancies.

Ensure current and approved engineering information is used on site.
Setting Out & Surveying

Deliver precise dimensional control and maintain calibrated equipment.

Produce as-built surveys and compliance checks.

Establish and verify control points, sharing data with the team.
Quality Assurance

Support delivery of the Quality Plan and inspection targets.

Conduct site inspections and resolve minor issues.

Work to ITPs and manage Permits to Work documentation.
Materials, Plant & Logistics

Provide accurate quantity data and manage material requisitions.

Assist with logistics planning and temporary works inspections.
Programme & Commercial Awareness

Work to site and contract programmes.

Identify potential variations and communicate with senior/commercial teams.
🔹 What You'll Bring

HNC or higher in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Structural Engineering.

Proven experience in setting out and engineering delivery on RC frame projects.

Experience working in or around aviation infrastructure is highly desirable.

Proficiency in CAD and EDM surveying equipment.

Strong mentoring skills and ability to lead junior engineers.

High competency in surveying techniques and quality control processes.
