Are you a skilled Quantity Surveyor looking for your next challenge in a dynamic and fast-paced environment?

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to support our client on a variety of construction and refurbishment projects. You'll take full commercial responsibility from pre-contract through to final account, ensuring cost control, profitability, and successful financial delivery of each project.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading organisation on a portfolio of projects across sectors such as retrofit, voids, and general fabric upgrades.

The Role: Quantity Surveyor

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be managing and controlling all commercial aspects of construction or refurbishment contracts – including cost planning, procurement, valuations, CVRs, subcontractor payments, and final accounts. The role requires attention to detail, strong commercial acumen, and excellent time management to meet tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

Measurement, pricing, and tender evaluation
Full project ownership from inception to final account
Procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers
Identify opportunities to maximise value and improve project margins
Produce and monitor cost value reconciliations (CVRs)
Prepare and submit accurate applications for payment
Forecasting and financial reporting to senior stakeholders
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards
Manage subcontractor accounts, from appointment to final payment
Work collaboratively with internal teams and the client to deliver successful outcomes

Requirements:

Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying (HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent)
Proven experience in a QS role within construction, refurbishment, or retrofit projects
Strong understanding of JCT contracts, Schedules of Rates, and Bills of Quantities
Excellent commercial and financial acumen
Strong knowledge of subcontractor procurement and cost management
Ability to produce accurate CVRs and manage project costs end-to-end
Experience working with both direct labour and subcontracted workforces
Strong Microsoft Excel and general IT skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Strong communicator with ability to liaise at all levels

Desirable:

Experience working on retrofit or public sector frameworks
Familiarity with NEC contracts
Knowledge of voids, social housing, or fabric upgrade projects
