Our client is a leading specialist bespoke product contractor, delivering tailored solutions for prestigious super-prime residential and luxury commercial projects in London and the South East. Renowned for their precision, craftsmanship, and uncompromising standards, they are now seeking a Design Manager to oversee the technical and design coordination of their specialist bespoke product.
The Role
The Design Manager will be responsible for managing all design and technical information across multiple contracts, from CAD drawings and specification reviews to material submittals, approvals, and installation support. The role requires a strong understanding of construction methods, excellent coordination skills, and an ability to work collaboratively with clients, consultants, architects, and site teams to ensure flawless delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Design & CAD
*
Produce, amend, and set out CAD drawings for layouts, details, and interfaces with other trades.

Review and check drawings, schedules, and specifications, highlighting discrepancies or risks.
*
Coordinate design information with architects, consultants, and other specialists to ensure accuracy and buildability.
*
Samples & Approvals
*
Collate, prepare, and submit bespoke product samples for client/consultant approval.
*
Manage and present sample boards, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
*
Track approvals in line with project programme deadlines.
*
Materials & Quality Control
*
Review and verify material schedules and specifications to ensure compliance with design intent.
*
Inspect bespoke product deliveries for correct finish, dimensions, and quality before release to site.
*
Maintain comprehensive records of approvals, deliveries, and inspections.
*
Documentation & Compliance
*
Prepare and issue design packages, submittals, and as-built drawings.
*
Maintain strict document control, ensuring all information is current and accurate.
*
Support compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and client-specific requirements.
*
Project & Site Support
*
Attend design coordination and client meetings, providing technical support.
*
Support project and site teams with design clarifications during installation.
*
Resolve design or technical challenges promptly to avoid delays.
*
Assist with project close-out, including O&M manuals and final as-builts.
Candidate Requirements
*
Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit or 3D packages advantageous).
*
Experience as a Design Manager / Design Coordinator / Technical Coordinator within construction or specialist bespoke product environments.
*
Strong knowledge of construction methods, drawings, and specifications.
*
Excellent organisational and time-management skills, able to handle multiple projects.
*
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence engaging high-end clients and consultants.
*
Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to deliver to the standards demanded in the super-prime sector.
