Health and Safety Manager

We’re supporting a top-tier principal contractor in their search for an experienced and driven Health & Safety Manager to lead Health, Safety and Environmental performance across their Southern Business Unit. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, is passionate about cultural change, and enjoys shaping strategy at a senior level.
This hybrid strategic-focused position will operate on a weekly split of 2 days in the office (Near Guildford), 2 days supporting live projects across the south from an operational standpoint and 1 day from home. With a proven track record of development and internal progression within a growing business unit, this role offers unparalleled stability and security.

The Opportunity
You’ll work closely with the Head of HSE, MD of the region, and senior stakeholders to:
Deliver and embed HSE strategy across live and pre-construction projects
Lead and coach a small team, including a Regional HSE Advisor
Drive engagement and improvement across multiple framework projects.
Play an active role in leadership forums, board meetings, and business-wideInitiatives
Cover projects primarily across the South (no London travel) with a mix of site, office and home-based work What You’ll Be Doing
Managing and developing a regional HSE advisor and operational teams
Translating group-wide strategy into practical, measurable actions
Leading on cultural change programmes
Supporting bids, pre-construction, and client engagement from an HSE lens
Driving quality incident investigations and actionable insights
Reporting on key HSE metrics and trends for the region What They’re Looking For
Minimum 5 years in a senior HSE role, ideally in building construction
Experience operating or reporting into a senior leadership team
Strong strategic delivery and performance management
Track record of embedding cultural change and communicating across all levels of an organisation
Experience in operating in pre-construction through to completion
Previous line management experience (mentoring/coaching is a big plus)
NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ Level 6 Equivalent or working towards
