Contracts Manager

The client manages projects ranging from fl agship store openings to large-scale retail refurbishments. We work with major retail chains managing thousands of stores across Europe, requiring scalable project management approaches and strategic client relationship management.

We are seeking an experienced Contract Manager to lead complex, high-value retail projects from inception through completion. This strategic role requires someone who can operate at both executive and operational levels, managing multiple concurrent projects while maintaining the highest standards of delivery expected by our luxury retail clients.

In this role you will oversee project portfolios with values ranging from £350,000 to £2M+, coordinate international teams, and maintain direct client relationships with major retailers. You will be responsible for strategic project oversight, team leadership, and ensuring seamless delivery across multiple jurisdictions.

Strategic Project Leadership
● Lead and oversee multiple concurrent projects across UK and European markets
● Manage project portfolios with individual values from £350,000 to £2M+
● Interface directly with clients and key stakeholders
● Maintain framework agreements with major retail clients.

Project Delivery Excellence
● Create BOQ submissions and run the tender process.
● Manage complex project timelines across multiple time zones and countries.
● Coordinate surveys and site assessments in both the UK & Europe.
● Have a detailed understanding on local building regulations and standards (Building Control, CDM regulations)
● Lead project handovers, including O&M documentation and consent to trade processes.

Team Leadership & Development
● Mentor, develop and grow a team that allows objectives to be achieved.
● Establish clear role definitions and resource allocation across teams.
● Implement and maintain project management best practices and methodologies.
● Lead collaborative project management structures.
● Foster professional development within the project team.

Client Relationship Management
● Maintain and develop relationships with major retail clients.
● Manage client expectations and ensure exceptional service delivery.
● Develop long-term partnership agreements and framework contracts.

Process & Systems Management
● Champion project management systems (Smartsheet /Project Tracking)
● Ensure project documentation integrity and accessibility.
● Implement efficient communication protocols and email management standards.
● Coordinate with accounting teams on CAPEX management and fi nancial reporting.
● Maintain project coding systems and automated notifi cation processes.

Experience & Qualifications
● Minimum 7+ years senior project management experience in construction/architecture/retail fi t-out.
● Proven track record managing complex projects valued £350,000 to £2M+
● Experience with luxury retail or high-end commercial fi t-outs
● Strong understanding of UK building regulations, CDM compliance, and JCT contracts
● RIBA project stages (0-7) knowledge and application

Technical Competencies
● Advanced profi ciency in project management software (Smartsheet, MS Project)
● Experience with BOQ preparation, tender evaluation, and contract administration
● Knowledge of building control processes and compliance procedures
● Understanding of MEP coordination and consultant management
● Familiarity with procurement processes and supplier management
