Mechanical Site Manager
The Opportunity
Having been awarded several new contracts this leading Heat Network Consultancy is recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Site Manager to assist in the management and supervision of a multi-million pound hospital decarbonisation project. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the project deliverables meet the client requirements and are delivered safely, on time and within budget across a wide range of activities.
The Position
The role will require a mix of project management, technical engineering and strong stakeholder management. Managing the delivery of a Southeast Hospital retrofit project (across multiple buildings) which includes the following scope:
* Supervise and manage the MEP contractors and site workers, provide direction to the team and conduct regular inspections to ensure quality and safety standards are achieved and maintained.
* Review plans, drawings and specification to ensure systems meet requirements, are understood and correctly integrated.
* Oversee and monitor the Health & Safety management of the projects to ensure installations comply with relevant safety standards, codes and regulations.
* Conduct regular safety meetings with supply chain and deliver toolbox talks as required.
* Perform site audits to identify any potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
* Review, assess and comment against supply chain RAMS to ensure they are suitable and sufficient before works are carried out.
* Ensure safe systems of works are strictly adhered to, and support the Senior Project Manager with the maintenance of the construction phase plan.
* Manage the procurement, delivery and storage of MEP materials and equipment onsite.
* Monitor and measure project expenditure against budgets throughout the project lifecycle and report to the Senior Project Manager.
* Ensuring the installation has been inspected and signed off at the contractual milestones prior to handover.
* Ensuring the O&M manuals and as built documentation is provided prior to final contactor payment.
* Communication, management and resolution of any snags/issues/remedial measures that arise from the above Quality Assurance process.
The Person
The successful person will have a strong mechanical building services background
* SMSTS/Black CSCS card
* Excellent knowledge of CDM regulations
* Experience of working on a ‘live’ hospital project
* Health & Safety – NEBOSH or IOSH certification
* First Aid at Work
* Strong and effective communication skills
* Demonstratable evidence of supervising and managing MEP contractors and site workers with a proven ability to manage timelines, budgets and resources
* Demonstratable experience of effective engagement and communication with NHS or equivalent public sector organisations.
* Proficient with MS Office suite, in particularly MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
