Working for a Maintenance Contractor

Based at one location on the Isle of Sheppey

1 – 2 months contract

Ideally you will also have a IPAF licence 3a/3b

Position good to knows

You will be working for a driven and forward-thinking contractor who have multiple contracts with the Prison service and their supporting facility providers. Here they carry out planned preventative maintenance, daily repairs and maintenance, emergency repair work, refurbishment and minor construction work. And due to increased contract wins they are looking to add a Multi-Trader to their inhouse workforce; where you will be carrying out repairs, maintenance and clearance to external guttering.

You will be working in a team of two, so if you have an IPAF Ticket that would be an advantage as the one of the two roles will be operating a cherry picker, so being in procession of a IPAF 3A/3B Licence would be a benefit.

Due to the nature of the facility, you will need to pass a security and criminal record check

*

The facility is a secure unit and therefore personal items (mobile phones) will not be allowed past security checks daily

*

There will be a key holder in each team and as a team you will be responsible for the safe movement, use, storage and removal of a work tool chest and required materials to complete set works

*

The facility could be challenging environment for some due to it’s secure nature and security checks, so you must be happy working in and around a secure facility which houses patients and inmates

Key elements of the role and your responsibilities

You will be working in one fixed location on the Isle of Sheppey

*

Here you will be focused on the day to day occupied repairs and maintenance of external guttering at the secure unit and its affiliated buildings

*

For this role you should be able to demonstrate a core skilled trade of repair and maintenance and the ability to undertake a range of multi-trade/handyperson duties and general property maintenance

*

Experience of working in occupied residential properties, hospitals, prisons, sheltered accommodation and immigration centres would be an advantage but not essential

*

As a multi skilled operative you will deliver excellent customer service and support staff with reactive repairs and maintenance across a portfolio of the secure units facilities, with primary focus of accommodation units

*

Your work will be split on a job to job basis over a planned route with a wide range of general repairs and maintenance tasks undertaken on each job

*

You will closely with the facilities estate management to meet contract SLA delivery in a timely manner

*

You should have the ability to advise your supervisor on any issues or challenges that require additional support

*

Happy working in a team of two all day and with other trades as and when required to complete a repair

*

Complete daily work sheets detailing work undertaken and materials used after each job undertaken

*

Working in a timely and productive manner

What you need to bring to the role as the successful applicant to the

Strong Handyperson background with the ability to carry out multi-trade works

Extensive knowledge of maintenance repair works

Ability to manage and carry out repairs in a secure environment

Previous experience of repairs and maintenance experience

Adher to company health and safety guidelines

Work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders

Show strong customer service skills due to repairs taking place in occupied areas

Tidy work ethic, making sure all adjoining work areas are kept clean and damage free

To achieve the upper pay bracket you must show good experience of working on repair contracts.

The advertised rates are based on working CIS but a PAYE and holiday payment method and rate can be discussed, but this will mean a slight reduction in the advertised headline rate.
