Senior Estimator – Drive Growth & Innovation in Energy Efficiency

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum
Location: Cardiff (Hybrid & Office-Based)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00 (37.5 hours per week)

Our Client is one of the UK’s leading energy efficiency retrofit installers. Our mission is to combat fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions in UK homes. We deliver a full range of domestic energy efficiency measures—including insulation, heat pumps, solar, and heating controls—to over 300 households per month, with ambitious plans for further expansion.

🔍 The Opportunity

We are seeking a commercially astute and experienced Senior Estimator to support our rapid growth and entry into new markets. This is a pivotal role in ensuring accurate and competitive cost estimations for energy efficiency projects, helping us maintain profitability while delivering exceptional value to our clients.

You’ll be part of a fast-paced, agile team where your insights and expertise will shape the future of our operations and contribute directly to our mission of sustainability and innovation.

🛠 Key Responsibilities

* Cost Estimation: Develop detailed and accurate estimates for materials, labour, and equipment

* Project Analysis: Review specifications, drawings, and documentation to assess scope and cost implications

* Supplier Coordination: Source and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors

* Bid Preparation: Create comprehensive proposals with cost breakdowns, timelines, and resource allocations

* Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and propose mitigation strategies

* Cost Control: Collaborate with the Operational Board to review and monitor project costs

* Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with project management, procurement, and sales teams

* Market Research: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, material costs, and labour rates

* Process Improvement: Continuously refine estimating methodologies for greater efficiency and accuracy

🎓 Skills & Experience Required

* Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field

* Proven experience as an estimator in energy efficiency, construction, or renewable energy sectors

* Strong knowledge of domestic energy efficiency solutions and regulatory frameworks

* Proficiency in MS Excel and industry-specific estimation tools

* Excellent analytical, numerical, and organisational skills

* Effective communication and stakeholder engagement abilities

* Familiarity with building codes and energy efficiency standards

* Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

⭐ Desirable Qualifications & Experience

* Professional certification in estimating (e.g., AACE, RICS)

* Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera)

* Background in Local Authority and Social Housing markets

* Knowledge of sustainable building practices
