Estimator – Architectural Metalwork

The company portfolio includes bespoke staircases, balustrades, structural steel, and complex architectural features for some of the UK’s most prestigious developments.
We are seeking a talented Estimator to join the team and play a vital role in shaping our project pipeline.
Role Overview
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and commercially sound tenders for a wide range of architectural metalwork projects. Reporting to the Commercial Manager and Managing Director, the successful candidate will ensure that bids reflect both client requirements and the company’s commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities

Analyse tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates.

Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and main contractors to clarify project requirements.

Measure and take off quantities from drawings.
*
Prepare bills of quantities, schedules, and detailed cost breakdowns.
*
Source supplier and subcontractor quotations and evaluate pricing options.
*
Identify risks, opportunities, and value-engineering solutions within tender submissions.
*
Assist in post-tender negotiations and handovers to the project delivery team.
*
Maintain an up-to-date database of costs, suppliers, and market trends.
*
Support the commercial team with budgetary advice and feasibility estimates during early project stages.
Skills & Experience
*
Proven experience as an Estimator within architectural metalwork, structural steel, or specialist subcontracting.
*
Strong understanding of fabrication methods, installation processes, and materials used in architectural metalwork.
*
Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
*
Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office (Excel essential).
*
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
*
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
*
Commercial awareness with the ability to balance competitiveness and profitability.

Organised and able to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
