We're hiring for Geotechnical Engineer

📍 Location : St. Austell

Job Description:

We are looking for a qualified Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. This will include assess ground conditions, manage risks, and design foundations for various projects, including buildings, roads, and tunnels. Key responsibilities involve field investigations such as drilling and sample analysis, interpreting data with specialist software, and producing reports with design recommendations. This role will suit someone with the necessary geotechnical skills and construction background.

Core Responsibilities:

Site Assessment & Investigation.
Study geological maps and aerial photographs to understand the site's subsurface features.
Plan and supervise field investigations, including drilling and collecting soil, rock, and groundwater samples.
Analyse collected samples and test results to determine the ground's stress-bearing capability, stability, and potential geological hazards.Construction Oversight:

Monitor ground conditions during and after construction to ensure long-term stability and safety.
Resolve technical issues that arise during the construction process.Key Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and geology.
Software Proficiency: Skill in geotechnical software for data analysis and modelling.
Data Analysis: Ability to interpret complex data from field tests and laboratory analyses.
Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical skills to identify challenges and develop effective solutions.
Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills to present findings and collaborate with teams.
Project Management: Ability to manage project packages from instruction to completion and work within budgets.Required Qualifications & Certifications

HNC / HND / Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
CSCS card (Engineering or Professional level preferred)
SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable but not essential)
First Aid at Work (desirable)
AutoCAD proficiency
Full UK Driving Licence and own vehicleWhat We're Looking For

Minimum 3 years' experience in a Geotechnical Engineer role
Solid understanding of residential groundworks and civil infrastructure
Ability to work independently on a live site
Excellent attention to detail and professional approach
