Construction Project Manager job in Swansea interim contract for 12-months

My client is an educational institution dedicated to fostering an exceptional learning environment for their students. The campus is a lively and dynamic setting, with key projects in the pipeline.
Your new role
You will oversee the planning, execution, and completion of capital works projects across our educational estate. You will work semi-autonomously, taking ownership of and delivering capital projects for the college estates team. The estate team plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects that enhance learning environments for our staff and students.
With exciting new projects on the horizon, you will be responsible (with support from experienced professionals) for the successful delivery of various capital projects, emphasising a systematic approach to service delivery, customer care, whilst maintaining high standards.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the delivery of capital works projects from start to finish.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, budget, and timelines.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external consultants.
- Ensure all projects comply with relevant regulations and standards.
- Track project progress and provide regular updates to senior management.
- Identify and manage project risks.
- Control project budgets and ensure cost efficiency.
- Conduct post-project reviews and implement improvements.
- Develop and own project briefs in collaboration with appointed consultants.
- Arrange and manage the appointment of necessary consultants.
- Plan project roles and responsibilities, identifying resource shortages.
- Participate in college change projects related to the projects.
- Prepare and manage project programmes.
- Manage change, coordinate design processes, and oversee project control pre- and post-contract, including financial management through all RIBA stages.
- Develop and manage procurement strategies and activities.
- Engage in risk, value, and opportunities management.
- Ensure document control and availability of relevant electronic information for the college and audits.
- Manage wider project requirements throughout the project lifecycle, including furniture installations, churn, and temporary facilities.
- Ensure efficient delivery of project management team outputs within agreed timescales and quality standards.
- Collaborate with the college Health and Safety Manager to address relevant issues.
- Safely deliver works alongside contractors, professionals, and college staff.
- Liaise with the college solicitors and insurers as appropriate.
What you’ll need to be successful
Demonstrated experience in project management, particularly in capital works projects, including a strong understanding of construction and building regulations.
You must have excellent organisational and time management abilities, and have the proven capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
A relevant project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) and experience in the education sector is desired.
