Managing Quantity Surveyor – FM (Main Contractor)
Location: Glasgow (Office-Based)
Salary: Up to £65,000 + £8,000 Car Allowance + 10% Pension
About the Role
Our client is seeking a commercially driven Managing Quantity Surveyor to join the FM arm of a leading Main Contractor in Glasgow. This is a key leadership role, overseeing a young and ambitious commercial team working across FM, Reactive and Planned Maintenance works. With a portfolio of low-value, high-volume projects (10-11 live at any one time, plus reactive works), the successful candidate must be able to hit the ground running and bring strong financial acumen, leadership, and client-facing skills.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and mentor a young commercial team, ensuring effective development, training, and engagement.
Manage the financial performance of multiple FM contracts, providing robust cost control and accurate forecasting.
Work closely with operational teams to identify and mitigate commercial risks.
Compile and present clear commercial reports for internal stakeholders and clients.
Lead on the commercial lifecycle of FM contracts, from tender stage through to final account.
Monitor project budgets, ensuring value for money and efficiency in service delivery.
Support procurement activities, including subcontractor management and negotiation.
Maintain compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and industry regulations.
Act as the key commercial point of contact for clients, building strong and lasting relationships.
Person Specification
Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent), or from a strong financial/commercial management background.
Proven experience within FM, maintenance, or reactive works environments.
Strong financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to manage high-volume, low-value projects.
Excellent leadership skills – able to coach, mentor, and motivate a developing team.
Strong communication skills, confident in client-facing settings.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, reactive environment while maintaining accuracy and control.
Self-starter, proactive and solutions-focused with the ability to deliver results quickly.
