A client within the Public Sector based in West Midlands is currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Manager to join their Neighbourhood and Assets team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a health and safety environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is to lead and manage all aspects of corporate health and safety, ensuring the Council achieves a safe working environment aligned to its strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Acting as the Council’s Principal Internal Health and Safety lead, providing guidance and expertise to senior management, staff and contractors.
• Managing statutory compliance across council buildings, services and activities, ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
• Organising and managing fire safety and emergency evacuation procedures, including mitigating risks and overseeing practice drills.
• Leading interventions, audits and inspections, devising policies and management systems to control risks at workplaces.
• Investigating accidents, incidents and statutory notifications, ensuring corrective action is implemented.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require a NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent Health & Safety qualification) and have significant experience working within an internal organisational health and safety function. Experience of applying regulatory controls and liaising with senior stakeholders is essential.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills.
• Excellent IT and report writing skills.
• Knowledge of current health and wellbeing agenda.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £27 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £23 per hour PAYE).
