We are partnering with a rapidly growing Tier 2 international design-and-build contractor specialising in data centre projects across Europe. As part of their expansion, we are seeking a Country HSE Manager to lead health, safety, and environmental strategy across multiple hyperscale data centre projects in Finland.
This is a critical leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and driving a zero-harm safety culture from early construction phases through to commissioning and handover.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement national HSE strategies aligned with company-wide objectives.
* Drive a proactive safety-first culture across all data centre projects, from excavation to commissioning.
* Provide strong leadership and mentoring to project-based HSE teams.
* Ensure compliance with Finnish HSE legislation, EU directives, and client-specific safety requirements.
* Lead site safety inspections, audits, and reviews, ensuring corrective actions are executed effectively.
* Maintain ISO compliance and support external audits.
* Lead and oversee all incident investigations, near-miss reporting, and root cause analysis.
* Deliver clear and accurate reports to senior leadership and regulatory authorities.
* Implement lessons learned and preventative strategies across all projects.
Training & Competency Development:
* Create and deliver robust training and induction programs for direct employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
* Conduct regular toolbox talks and ensure competency standards are consistently met and maintained.
Stakeholder Engagement & Safety Culture Building:
* Act as the senior HSE representative with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies.
* Build strong relationships while maintaining a zero-compromise approach to health and safety.
* Foster a collaborative culture that prioritizes risk mitigation and operational excellence.
Requirements
* Minimum 10+ years’ experience in a senior HSE leadership role within the data centre, mission-critical, or heavy industrial sector.
* Strong knowledge of Finnish and EU health & safety legislation and compliance frameworks.
* Proven experience managing HSE for hyperscale data centre projects or similar.
* Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
* EU Passport or legal right to work in Finland.
