DCT Recruitment are seeking an experienced and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our client’s team, working across a diverse portfolio of construction projects. This role is pivotal in managing project costs and ensuring financial efficiency throughout the lifecycle of each development. You will liaise closely with contractors, clients, and internal project teams to ensure all works are completed within budget, in line with quality standards, and fully compliant with relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation & Budgeting

Prepare accurate cost estimates and feasibility studies.

Provide cost planning advice during project design and development.

Ensure projects are delivered within budget and proactively identify cost-saving opportunities.

Prepare valuations and payment submissions for clients.

Contract & Procurement Management

Draft pricing documents, contracts, and Bills of Quantities (BOQ).

Negotiate and review contract terms with subcontractors and suppliers.

Evaluate subcontractor payment claims, ensuring accuracy and minimising discrepancies.

Manage procurement processes and provide risk-related advice.

Financial & Risk Management

Monitor project costs, variations, and cash flow throughout project delivery.

Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Ensure financial administration aligns with company standing order procedures.

Project Monitoring & Reporting

Track financial performance against budgeted targets.

Prepare and present regular financial reports to clients and key stakeholders.

Conduct site visits as required to assess progress and ensure contractual compliance.

Dispute Resolution & Final Accounts

Handle contract disputes and claims with subcontractors.

Ensure valuations reflect completed works accurately.

Prepare and finalise project accounts and oversee close-out processes.

Skills & Qualifications Required
Education

Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.

Alternatively, HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying with relevant experience.

Professional Accreditation (Preferred, not essential)

Membership with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) – MRICS or working towards.

Membership with CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building).

Key Skills

Strong numerical and analytical skills.

Proficient in cost estimation software such as Excel and Sage.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

In-depth knowledge of construction contracts, including JCT Suite.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
