Technical Manager
We are working with a renowned London based Developer who are looking to add a strong Technical Manager to their team. The proposed development is a residential mixed-use scheme with commercial, retail, cultural, school and leisure use, featuring 7.5 acres of beautifully landscaped open spaces, water features and 2,038 high quality new homes. This is based in the SE London / Kent are.
Specifically this is working on Phase 7, 364 homes split over 4 cores of varying heights up to 19 storeys, with a mix of Housing Association, First Time Buyers and Private Homes. The basement under buildings G links back to existing Phases and future phases. At Podium level we have extensive landscaping linking back to our award-winning public realm, private gardens and water features.
The successful candidate will oversee the construction of Building G, working alongside a Technical Manager and Graduate. They will lead the Shell & Core packages and act as the main point of contact for external consultants and internal teams, maintaining an overarching view of the project. This role is ideal for someone with experience managing multi-phase sites. Initially, the candidate will work alongside the Design Director, with opportunities to progress into overall management of London dock development.
The Technical Manager will lead, motivate and manage the in-house technical team and external consultants. Will ensure translation of planning schemes into a fully working commercial solution and maintain and develop the company’s standards This is an exciting and demanding role which provides an opportunity for a self-motivated, outgoing individual to make a significant impact in a crucial part of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure that all projects are implemented effectively by the Technical team.
• Manage skills and resources efficiently to ensure optimum progress throughout projects.
• Keep the Technical Director/ Design Director appraised of all current projects and key issues
• Facilitate the requirements of the Technical Director/ Design Director
• Motivate and develop the technical teams potential, both individually and collectively, plus dedicate suitable time to coaching the team to optimise results;
• Monitor all production information against budgetary allowances and report any variances thereto.
• Resolve all day-to-day problems as they arise by preparing solutions thereto and, where appropriate, liaising with the Technical Director/Design Director for approval.
• Write reports on future and existing legislation, building materials etc.
• Lead on consultant tendering and procurement ensuring that appointments are made in good time and within budget
• Monitor fee expenditure against appointment values and budgets ensuring that invoices are processed in a timely manner.
• Monitor the performance project design teams in terms of delivery against programme and quality of information.
• Ensure Building Regulations, Building Warranty and Planning Conditions are discharged in a timely manner
