The Role

We are looking for an experienced Permit Engineer / Permitting Specialist to join a leading engineering consultancy, supporting complex construction and infrastructure projects. Based primarily in London, with opportunities to work across the Netherlands and Belgium, this is a permanent position offering career progression, international exposure, and the chance to shape permitting strategies on major projects.

As a Permit Engineer, you will ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, liaise with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), and de-risk projects by delivering effective permitting strategies across building, environmental, and land-use domains.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage permitting strategies aligned with project objectives.

Review design documentation and permit packages for compliance and accuracy.

Create and maintain permit risk registers to manage compliance and schedule risks.

Act as the technical liaison with authorities and regulatory bodies.

*

Lead negotiations on draft permit conditions to ensure project viability.

*

Track RFIs, agency comments, and prepare responses with engineering teams.

*

Deliver clear weekly permit status reports for stakeholders.

Requirements

*

Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.

*

Strong knowledge of permitting processes at local, national, and EU levels.

*

Experience in securing permits for large infrastructure or construction projects.

*

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

*

Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and risk management abilities.

*

Chartered or Professional Engineer status (or equivalent) desirable.
