Senior Architect – Birmingham

We are seeking an ambitious Senior Architect to join a well-established, multi-award-winning UK architectural practice. With a strong heritage and national presence, this practice is known for delivering imaginative, sustainable design and consultancy solutions that make a lasting positive impact on people, places, and the built environment.

This opportunity is based in the Midlands, with flexibility to work from either the Birmingham or Shrewsbury studio, supported by a friendly, collaborative, and design-led team culture.

About You

We are looking for a Senior Architect with a blend of creativity, technical expertise, and leadership capability. You will be confident leading large-scale projects, developing design solutions that are both robust and imaginative, and inspiring colleagues and clients alike.

You will bring:

ARB registration and at least 10 years post-qualification experience, with UK project experience essential.
Strong design flair paired with excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
The ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences – from concept stage through to delivery – using 3D models, drawings, reports, and presentations.
Commercial and contractual awareness, plus experience managing project teams effectively.
Proficiency with digital tools including Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Newforma.

The Role

Working under the guidance of a Project Director, you will:

Lead the design and delivery of projects in line with the RIBA Plan of Work.
Develop briefs into innovative, sustainable design solutions that balance aesthetic, functional, and budgetary requirements.
Coordinate multi-disciplinary inputs and collaborate closely with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
Prepare statutory submissions (Planning, Building Regulations, Gateway approvals), and liaise with statutory bodies.
Advise on material selection, write specifications, and ensure technical compliance with UK construction law and standards.
Manage design risk registers and maintain robust project documentation.
