Plater Fabricator
Key Responsibilities
1. Material Preparation & Interpretation:
*
Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, including General Arrangement (GA), detail, and isometric drawings.
*
Mark out materials for cutting and shaping using templates, scribers, or CNC programming.
*
Select appropriate materials (e.g., carbon steel S355, stainless steel 316L, aluminium).
2. Fabrication & Forming:
*
Operate heavy machinery to cut and shape metal:
*
Thermal Cutting: Plasma, oxy-fuel, and laser cutters.
*
Mechanical Cutting: Guillotines, band saws.
*
Forming: Press brakes, rollers, and plate bending machines to form plates into cylinders, cones, etc.
*
Perform thermal straightening to correct distortions in metal.
3. Assembly & Fitting:
*
Assemble components using jigs, fixtures, and tack welds to ensure precise alignment before final welding.
*
Fit and align large sections and plate work to tight tolerances (often within ±2mm).
*
Use measuring equipment (verniers, levels, laser alignment tools) to check accuracy
