Design Manager
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Design Manager to join our client based in the heart of Oxfordshire, with a strong background in fast-track fit-out projects. This is a pivotal role working for a prestigious client, where you’ll lead the design process through to completion—ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
You will work closely with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams to manage and coordinate all aspects of design, ensuring seamless integration between design and construction activities within a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate the design process for fast-track fit-out projects, ensuring timely delivery of design packages.

Liaise with clients, architects, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure design intent aligns with project goals.

Oversee the development of design drawings and specifications through to construction.
*
Identify and resolve design-related issues quickly to avoid project delays.
*
Lead internal and external design meetings, reporting on progress, risks, and design changes.
*
Ensure compliance with building regulations, health and safety, and company standards.
*
Maintain document control of all design-related information.
*
Proactively manage design risks and ensure mitigation strategies are in place.
Requirements
*
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Design Manager or in a similar design leadership role.

Proven experience in fast-track commercial or retail fit-out projects.
*
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulatory compliance.
*
Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
*
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
*
Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
*
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software is advantageous.
*
Degree qualified in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
