An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Planning Consultant or Associate Director to join a national consultancy. This is a key position responsible for delivering high-quality planning advice across a wide range of projects including residential, commercial, education, healthcare, and employment sectors. The role will involve leading on applications, appraisals, appeals, land promotion, and enforcement matters, whilst playing a pivotal role in business development and client relationship management.

Responsibilities

Manage your own caseload, providing expert advice and building long-term client relationships.
Prepare and submit complex planning applications and appeals.
Attend and represent clients at committees, hearings, and public examinations.
Undertake planning appraisals, policy research, and develop planning strategies.
Write detailed reports with clear recommendations.
Conduct site visits and attend client meetings as required.
Contribute to business development through networking, fee proposals, and identifying opportunities.
Support and mentor junior colleagues where appropriate.Requirements

Degree in Town Planning or related field with full RTPI membership.
Proven post-qualification experience within consultancy or local authority.
Track record of managing complex planning projects and leading client accounts.
In-depth knowledge of planning policy, legislation, and appeals processes.
Strong commercial awareness with experience in business development and generating fee income.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
