Designer (Cladding/Recladding)

Role Purpose
The Designer will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of façade and cladding projects from concept through to completion. Working in a hybrid capacity—2/3 days at home and 2/3 days between the office and site visits—the Designer will produce accurate technical drawings, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure all designs meet required compliance, aesthetic, and performance standards.

Design Development

Produces high-quality technical drawings and 3D models for façade and cladding systems.

Ensures designs comply with fire safety, building regulations, and project specifications.

Develops details for rainscreen cladding, curtain walling, and associated façade systems.

Collaboration & Coordination

Works closely with project managers, site teams, architects, and clients to deliver accurate design packages on schedule.

Attends design meetings, presenting concepts and technical solutions as required.

Supports site teams during installation, clarifying details and resolving design queries.

Quality & Compliance
*
Reviews and incorporates manufacturer specifications and technical guidance.
*
Ensures all drawings and documents meet internal quality standards and client requirements.

Supports compliance with façade safety legislation and testing standards.

Project Involvement
*
Assists in design development during tender stages and contributes to value engineering.

Participates in site visits to assess installation progress and check buildability of designs.

Provides ongoing technical input throughout project lifecycle.
Required Skills & Experience
*
Strong experience as a Designer within the construction or façade sector.
*
Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential), with additional experience in Revit, SolidWorks, or similar design software desirable.

Solid knowledge of rainscreen cladding, curtain walling, or wider façade systems.
*
Understanding of UK Building Regulations, façade fire performance requirements, and CWCT standards.
*
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across office, home, and site environments.

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple design packages simultaneously.
Desirable
*
Degree or HNC/HND in Architectural Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Previous experience working for a façade contractor or specialist sub-contractor.

Familiarity with BIM processes and digital project management tools.

Salary: Up to £60,000 (depending on experience).
