We are currently collaborating with a main contractor that specialises in the Responsive repairs, planned maintenance and retrofit projects for local authorities and housing associations.
With offices across the UK the company now employs over 700 skilled operatives and specialists delivering a national solution with a local focus.
Since their inception 20 years ago, the company has grown rapidly having completed works on over 5,000 tenanted properties and now turnover in excess of £80 million offering comprehensive works covering full kitchen and bathroom replacements, electrical rewires, boiler changes, new heating systems, disabled adaptations, external insulated rendering, general roofing, loft insulation, and external environmental works.
The Role
Our client is currently seeking to recruit a Project Manager to join their team in Berkshire to manage and deliver projects within the social housing environment, including planned maintenance, refurbishments, compliance upgrades, and new development schemes.
The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required standards, with a strong focus on tenant satisfaction, safety, and value for money.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll take responsibility for managing different types of projects, including:
* Planned works (kitchens, bathrooms, roofing, etc.)
* Void refurbishments
* Compliance upgrades (fire safety, electrical, gas)
* Decarbonisation and retrofit programmes
* New build or regeneration projects (where applicable)
Your responsibilities will include:
* Managing projects from start to finish – from initial scoping and feasibility through to completion and handover
* Preparing specifications, tender documents, and procuring contractors
* Monitoring budgets, costs, programmes, and quality standards
* Ensuring all works comply with statutory requirements, building regulations, and health & safety standards (including CDM)
* Overseeing contractor performance against KPIs, SLAs, and contract terms
* Carrying out quality checks, snagging, and progress reporting
* Communicating with tenants and stakeholders, ensuring disruption is minimised
* Reporting regularly to senior management on progress, risks, and budgets
* Maintaining accurate project records and documentation
* Supporting funding and regulatory reporting (e.g. SHDF, Net Zero)
* Contributing ideas for continuous improvement and innovation
What we are looking for:
* Proven project management experience in housing, construction, or property maintenance
* Experience delivering planned works, refurbishments, or compliance-led projects
* Strong understanding of procurement and contract management
* Knowledge of housing legislation, building regulations, and health & safety requirements
* Ability to manage budgets and track financial performance
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Strong organisational skills – able to manage multiple projects at once
* Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools (e.g. MS Project, Excel)
* Full UK driving licence
