Remuneration: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum (negotiable subject to experience)

A main contractor is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join permanently and work closely with the senior commercial team in the preparation of project cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation. You will be exposed to various client projects across food production, motorsports, fitness centres, parcel distribution centres, residential and much more offering genuine excitement preventing monotony.
This role is ideal for an early-career estimator or assistant Quantity surveyor seeking an adventurous position and exposure to diverse projects across the UK, from flagship commercial builds to complex residential refurbishments. You will be supported by and working closely with Senior commercial manager and Senior Quantity Surveyor.
Responsibilities
– Assist in preparing accurate cost plans, tenders, and budget forecasts.
– Support procurement processes, reviewing supplier quotations and negotiating commercial terms.
– Monitor costs and financial progress across multiple projects, highlighting variances.
– Contribute to valuations, payment applications, and settlement of final accounts.
– Participate in site visits and progress reviews, ensuring alignment with project goals.
– Maintain project documentation and produce clear financial reports for stakeholders.
– Build strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and colleagues.
What we require from you?
– Degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
– Minimum 2.5 years' experience within a main contractor or consultancy environment
– Full UK driving licence essential, with flexibility for occasional site travel. essential
– Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
– Familiarity with JCT Contracts, cost management, and tendering procedures.
– Confident communication and negotiation abilities.
– IT literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
