Job Description: EC&I Commissioning Engineer – Nuclear Project

Position: EC&I Commissioning Engineer
Location: Seascale, Cumbria (Nuclear Project)
Rate: £37.00 per hour (Umbrella)

Role Overview

We are recruiting an experienced EC&I Commissioning Engineer to support a major nuclear project based in Seascale. The successful candidate will be responsible for the commissioning of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards. This role requires proven experience within highly regulated environments, preferably nuclear, with a strong focus on safety, technical excellence, and collaborative working.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support commissioning activities for EC&I systems, equipment, and plant.

Develop, review, and execute commissioning test documentation (ITPs, FATs, SATs, and commissioning plans).

Conduct functional testing, fault-finding, and verification of electrical and control systems.

Ensure all commissioning activities comply with site safety rules, nuclear regulations, and permit-to-work systems.

Provide technical input into design changes, red-line mark-ups, and as-built documentation.

Interface with construction, design, and operations teams to resolve technical issues.

Record and report commissioning results in line with project quality assurance and lifetime record requirements.

Support handover and acceptance of systems into operational service.

Essential Skills & Experience

Time-served apprenticeship or HNC/HND (or higher) in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering (or related discipline).

Demonstrable commissioning experience within nuclear, power generation, defence, or other regulated industries.

Strong knowledge of EC&I systems, instrumentation calibration, loop checking, and control logic.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical documents.

Working knowledge of site safety practices and commissioning procedures.

Experience with QA processes, documentation, and traceability in regulated environments.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

Previous experience on nuclear licensed site

Valid CCNSG Safety Passport / CSCS / Nuclear Safety Passport.

CompEx certification (desirable).

Familiarity with PLC/DCS systems and software commissioning.

Package

Rate: £37.00 per hour (Umbrella).

Location: Seascale, Cumbria.

Contract: 12 months
