About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to strengthen our commercial team on the Cheshire West and Chester highways contract. Reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be a key point of contact for all commercial matters. This includes managing subcontract procurement, preparing and submitting quotations and final accounts, producing bills of quantities, and ensuring accurate invoicing and timely payment.

You will play a vital role in forecasting, cost management, and supporting the wider commercial function across the business when required.

Responsibilities

As a Quantity Surveyor you will:

* Provide informed, practical advice on commercial and contractual matters.

* Carry out take-offs from drawings to prepare Bills of Quantities.

* Interpret and work with contract documents, specifications, and standard methods of measurement.

* Oversee cost forecasting, risk management, and change control processes.

* Draft and issue contractual correspondence as needed.

* Analyse and compare subcontract tenders, ensuring value for money.

* Monitor and control project budgets, cash flow, and work in progress.

* Use in-house software systems (e.g. Coupa, Lisa, Confirm) — training will be provided where required.

* Maintain compliance with company governance, policies, and procedures.

About You

* HND/Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.

* Minimum 3 years’ experience as a QS in highways or civil engineering (5+ years if not degree qualified).

* Proven ability to measure from drawings and produce Bills of Quantities.

* Familiarity with NEC3/NEC4 contracts is highly desirable.

* Strong commercial awareness with a client-focused approach.

* Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills.

* Flexible and able to manage competing priorities under pressure.

* Full UK driving licence is essential.
