A client within the Public Sector based in Cambridgeshire is currently recruiting for a Green Highways Maintenance Officer to join their Highways Maintenance team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a green infrastructure / highways maintenance environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is to deliver proactive and planned maintenance of the council’s green infrastructure, including grass verges, hedges, trees, shrubs, and Rights of Way, ensuring compliance with biodiversity, countryside and highways safety requirements.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Carrying out site inspections across rural and urban highway networks.
• Developing and implementing cyclical maintenance regimes using the Aurora asset management system.
• Applying horticultural knowledge to maintain species correctly in line with seasonal and ecological requirements.
• Investigating reported issues from the public and elected members, providing solutions and updates.
• Supporting climate crisis and biodiversity objectives while balancing operational highway needs.
• Collaborating with community groups, stakeholders and elected council members.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• Strong horticultural knowledge and experience in green infrastructure maintenance.
• Experience using asset management systems to plan and manage cyclical works.
• Ability to travel independently to rural and remote sites.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience with GIS systems such as MapInfo.
• Understanding of highways legislation and maintenance processes.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £250 per day Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £200 per day PAYE).
