A client within the Public Sector based in Bedfordshire is currently recruiting for a Environmental Health Officer to join their Corporate Safety & Commercial Regulation team as soon as possible. The client is offering a part-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a commercial environmental health environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To effectively implement and deliver the reactive and planned workload in relation to Commercial Regulation, focussing on Health & Safety, Licensing & Commercial Noise. Providing professional advice, in line with appropriate competencies, to local stakeholders and other directorate service areas. To protect and improve the health, safety and well-being of residents, workers, visitors & consumers within the Borough.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Undertake inspections, audits, investigations, and other interventions to deliver objectives outlined in the Corporate Safety & Commercial Regulation Service Plan.
• Investigate and resolve complaints relating to Health & Safety, Licensing, commercial nuisance, and Food Safety, taking proportionate enforcement action where necessary.
• Provide professional advice and support to the public, local stakeholders, and other directorate service areas.
• Undertake enforcement actions, including formal warnings, legal notices, prosecutions, and attending court as required.
• Prioritise workload and respond to service requests to ensure the protection of health, safety, and well-being within the Borough.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• Accredited Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health.
• Registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) as a Registered EHP (REnvH) or equivalent.
• Significant experience in regulatory roles including Health & Safety enforcement, licensing, commercial nuisance, and gathering evidence for legal action.

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience with Food Safety enforcement.
• Ability to prepare clear and concise reports for Committees and/or portfolio holders.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise multiple tasks effectively.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £45 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £31.50 per hour PAYE).
