Senior Mechanical Contracts Manager – Plymouth
About the Role
We are recruiting for a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Contracts Manager to take a leading role in delivering the mechanical elements of multimillion pound flagship project in Plymouth.
This is a senior position within a Tier 1 contractor environment, where you’ll oversee mechanical packages from planning through to handover, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead all mechanical aspects of a major MEP project, ensuring budgets, quality, and deadlines are met.
* Develop and manage detailed project programmes, coordinating with other disciplines and subcontractors.
* Monitor resources, labour, plant, and materials to optimise efficiency.
* Ensure full health & safety compliance across all mechanical operations.
* Conduct quality checks and audits to meet industry and client standards.
* Provide financial oversight including cost reporting, forecasting, and subcontractor management.
* Act as a key client liaison, building strong relationships and providing regular progress updates.
* Lead, mentor, and motivate project teams including engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
About You
* Circa 10+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering and project management, ideally on large-scale MEP projects.
* Previous healthcare project experience desirable.
* Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4).
* Excellent leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
* Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management experience.
* Detail-focused, with a proven ability to deliver to the highest compliance and technical standards.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering Services (minimum).
* City & Guilds 6188 – Heating and Ventilating (Industrial & Commercial Systems).
* CSCS Card – Managerial/Professionally Qualified.
* SSSTS or SMSTS is essential
* Additional qualifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or NEC contract training are advantageous.

* £70,000 – £85,000 basic salary (dependent on experience).
