An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Midlands team of a successful Civil Engineering Contractor. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering background.

The role
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures and minimising the costs of a project and enhancing value for money, while achieving the required standards and quality.
The ideal candidate will have to hold a full UK driving license, as travel between sites is necessary.
Key Accountabilities to include, but not limited to:
Analytical Thinking & Decision Making
·Orders information and systematically checks data
·Maximises digital opportunities
Cost Engineering
·Prepares Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documents
Estimating
·Critically appraises, estimates, and negotiates the above with 3rd parties
Planning
·Reviews complex contract programmes such as Time-Location
·Assists with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes
Project Management
·Monitors subcontract activities, measures and responds appropriately
·Analyses the commercial progress and reports to senior project staff
·Manages commercial aspects with the Customer and Stakeholders for their area of responsibility
Procurement
·Undertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes
·Prepares procurement programme and helps develop the strategy
Commercial Management
·Analyses rates & prices, agreement of variations and or compensation events as required
·Undertakes customer and stakeholder management for their area of responsibility
·Prepares, submits, and negotiates claims when required. Prepares Internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation
·Comply with Company procedures
Experience/Knowledge:
·Wide experience in civil engineering. Manage all commercial aspects of the project and be fluent in contract law and terminology
·High proficiency in operating the NEC3 Options A, B and C forms of contract
·Must be capable of producing robust Cost Plans and CVR’s and presenting to regional managers/board
·Experience of managing a team
·Good knowledge of and adheres to the Company’s GMCEs, BMS and other governance
Qualifications:
·Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar technical qualification (HND, HNC)
·Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Membership
·CSCS Card
