Job Title: Quantity Surveyor & Estimator

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor & Estimator to join a leading construction services team. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this role will be responsible for managing commercial aspects of projects, both at pre-construction and delivery stages, across schemes ranging from £10k to £2.5m.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maximising value, supporting project teams, and ensuring robust financial management across multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Contract

Prepare detailed cost plans and estimates, including site visits, take-offs, subcontract enquiries, and risk assessments.

Support bid submissions, ensuring accuracy, quality, and deadlines are met.

Advise on design cost implications to align with client budgets.

Project Delivery

Place subcontract orders, manage payments, and oversee supplier relationships.

Monitor project costs and produce regular financial reports.

Support the agreement of valuations, variations, and final accounts.

Identify opportunities to improve value and reduce costs.

Commercial & Systems Development

Implement and manage commercial systems and reporting processes.

Contribute to continuous improvement of business practices.

Ensure compliance with health & safety and contractual obligations.

Team & Client Development

Support and mentor team members, encouraging development and strong teamwork.

Maintain professional client relationships and act as a trusted point of contact.

Proactively seek opportunities for future business development.

Skills & Experience

Essential

Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).

Proven experience in a commercial/surveying role within construction.

Knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.

Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational abilities.

UK driving licence.

Desirable

Experience within the health, education, or commercial sectors.

Familiarity with term contracts.

Understanding of civils and joinery works.
