ENW Construction & Maintenance is a leading provider of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) operation and maintenance, and engineering and construction with over 30 years of experience helping customers manage, maintain, and develop the private electrical networks behind their meters.

We are supporting them in the search for a QS to join the team in Teesside to deliver high level commercial and contract expertise on Teesworks projects.

About the Role

To provide commercial and contractual expertise and support to colleagues across the business, supporting the management of projects in line with agreed contractual arrangements and obligations, adherence to the internal control manual or relevant regulations and anything else.

Delivery and control of post contract management within the business areas ensuring a high level
commercial assurance is maintained at all times on a range of Contracts from bespoke framework
agreements to NEC, JCT and any other Contracts

• To drive business performance through continuous improvements in how we manage commercial contracts,
managing variations, changes to the contracts and progressing delivery in line with the business plan.
• Support project managers in forecasting and control of spend on projects using commercial acumen to value
works delivering efficiencies in line with agreed performance criteria
• Assist the project delivery team with the build-up of budget estimates for PAG approval using actual cost
data, existing rates and measurement techniques
• Support the delivery team in the management of project costs, risks and mitigation through risk reduction
meeting and in line with company risk process
• Attend construction sites regularly to review and monitor delivery partners progress of the assigned
portfolio of projects in order to verify their costs, compensation events / variations and identify early warnings, all via robust challenges. Update and monitor appropriate risk registers, providing risk mitigation
support
• To lead on all contract resolution issues focusing on affordability for the business
• To work in partnership with the procurement team to provide advice on the selection of the appropriate
contractual route for tender and evaluation of tenders to ensure that cost effective solutions are delivered in
line with business objectives
• To support on the implementation of key measures and commercial practises in line with the internal
control manual to ensure Electricity North West remains compliant
• Carry out mini-tender procurement activities from project inception through to contract award on all nonframework projects in-line with current ICM
• Enhance the working relationship with contract & equipment suppliers, stakeholders to develop an
understanding of both parties drivers

Who we are looking for

Degree in quantity surveying
• Experience in the negotiation of contract terms and contractual claims from delivery partners is desirable
• Chartered or working towards (RICS/CIOB/CICES) is desirable
• Experience of contract management and contract negotiation including a solid understanding of claims
resolution/valuing of variations
• Awareness of Cost value construction project reporting (CVR’s), cost control and forecasting
• Proficient in managing delivery partners differing views when interpreting contract terms, being capable of
managing, resolving and valuing additional cost claims; is desirable
• Experience in contract administration with standard form contracts such as but not limited to NEC and JCT.
• Proven numerical skills with excellent attention to detail
• A good working knowledge of MS Excel and the ability to learn how to use specialist software
• Experience in the management of high value, multi-disciplined projects and also high volume low value works
advantageous
• Excellent written and verbal communicator
• Competent negotiator
• Full UK driving licence
