Salary: £30-40,000 (DOA)

A multi-disciplinary consultancy is looking for a skilled Sustainability Consultant with proven expertise in carbon assessment to strengthen their building services and sustainability division. The successful applicant will play a key role in delivering landmark construction, retrofit, and infrastructure schemes-driving measurable carbon reductions, surpassing sustainability standards, and embedding resilient, future-focused practices.

This position offers flexible working arrangements, with 3 days based in the office and 2 days remote.

Key Responsibilities as a Sustainability Consultant:

Lead the development of carbon strategies, full life-cycle carbon assessments, and embodied/operational carbon evaluations across all project phases.
Create and implement streamlined workflows using OneClick LCA to guide design choices, procurement, specifications, and reporting requirements.
Coordinate inputs from mechanical, electrical, and structural teams to deliver integrated solutions for carbon-conscious design, energy performance, and low-carbon material selection.
Conduct audits, surveys, and modelling exercises in line with certification frameworks (BREEAM, NABERS UK, ActiveScore, WELL, Fitwel) and their carbon criteria.
Prepare clear and professional reports, carbon reduction plans, sustainability statements, and presentations for clients, design collaborators, contractors, and approving authorities.
Provide insights on policy, emerging practices, and innovative low-carbon solutions to support decarbonisation goals and sustainable building programmes.Requirements for the Sustainability Consultant role:

Degree in a relevant field (e.g. environmental engineering, sustainable architecture, building services, or carbon management).
Strong professional background in sustainability consultancy or building services, with a particular focus on quantitative carbon analysis.
Proficiency in OneClick LCA, with practical project experience.
Detailed knowledge of life-cycle assessment methods, embodied vs. operational carbon, low-carbon material selection, energy modelling, and performance benchmarking.
Familiarity with UK sustainability certifications such as BREEAM, NABERS UK, ActiveScore, WELL, and Fitwel.
Ability to interpret and analyse technical drawings, specifications, and extract carbon-related data.
