Lead Estimator

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join and lead the Estimating function at a regional main contractor, who has been serving clients in Sussex and the surrounding areas for over 30 years.

This established and growing contractor delivers high-quality projects ranging from £300k – £5M. They work across many sectors and are involved in both new build and refurbishment projects. Current live projects include refurbishment to listed buildings, private residential new builds, school refurbishment programmes.

The Estimator Role:

The successful Estimator will report directly to the company owner and take full ownership of the estimating function, ensuring high-quality, competitive bids are delivered consistently and efficiently. This is a role for an experienced Estimator, with great commercial acumen, somebody who can get a deal done and a strong negotiator.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading the Estimating function and overseeing all tendering activity

Taking responsibility for converting enquiries into secured contracts

*

Engaging with clients to understand their requirements and tailoring proposals accordingly

*

Working closely with internal departments to price projects, develop early-stage programmes, and provide value engineering solutions

*

Identifying and mitigating commercial and project risks

*

Conducting supply chain research and building relationships to support bid strategy

*

Playing a key role in the company’s wider strategic growth and success

Candidate Requirements:

*

Proven experience as an Estimator in the UK construction industry with a main contractor

*

Successful track record of pricing and securing projects valued £1M+ across various sectors

*

In-depth knowledge of JCT contracts (Design & Build and Traditional)

*

Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills
