As a key member of the Estimating Department, the Estimating Manager is responsible for managing the procurement process for all assigned projects from the concept to lump sum tender, including participation in the contract letting and planning stage. Reporting to the Chief Estimator, this role is responsible for management of assigned estimating staff, subcontractor/supplier relations and continual development of estimating procedures and processes to achieve the Company business plan. This position requires a highly experienced, dynamic leader with sound knowledge of fundamental estimating, excellent vendor and client relationship ability and business development. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading bid submissions on large ICI projects including but not limited to design-build, construction management, lump sum, cost plus.

This position is office based.

Package: Salary Range $170K – $195K (£90K – £103K) + Car Allowance, Bonus, RRSP and Cellphone & Laptop + Relocation & VISA

Responsibilities

Develop strategies to create a competitive edge.
The ability to manage and follow through with multiple projects of high fiscal impact and complexity.
Provide Value Engineering. Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering, quality, or availability of materials.
Contribute to the risk assessment and management process – Identify risk areas and bring them to attention of Chief Estimator.
Consistently and insightfully formulate all tender costs—labour, material, equipment, and procure subcontractor scope and costs—for quotation submission.
Lead the estimate close-out process, including tender reviews and subproposal reviews and analysis.
Detailed and comprehensive quantity take-off and accurate cost evaluation
Subcontractor and supplier bid solicitation, scope definition and clarification, risk evaluation and bid submission.
Oversee the tendering and awarding of contracts.
Point of contact and advisor for assigned project(s) from initial contact with client to handover/transfer of project to the project team upon contract award
Actively participate in business development efforts to identify and track client and project pursuits.

Qualifications

Formal education related to Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or other equivalent construction program.
At least 15 years progressive experience in General Contracting, with at least 7 years in a lead estimating role on large ICI projects. Ability to identify inherent risk and analyse alternative means and methods to determine most economical alternative(s)
Ability to logically sequence construction work and build a realistic schedule.
Planning, scheduling, and organization skills
Strong diligence and ability to consistently produce work of high-quality and accuracy.
A good team leader who can coach and mentor estimating staff and be a positive role model
