Our client, an M&E Contractor and leader in providing design and installation services within the HVAC field, with a pedigree of completing high end HVAC projects for leading tier 1 contractors, are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to be predominantly site based in the London area reporting into the London Stratford Office.

Moving to new offices in Bishop Strotford, Herts in 2026.

Main Purpose of the Quantity Surveyor:

Reporting into the Contracts Director, manage costs and contracts for construction projects, from initial design to completion, ensuring projects stay within budget and meet quality standards. Key responsibilities include estimating material and labour costs, preparing budgets and tender documents, negotiating contracts, monitoring project finances, reporting on financial progress, and resolving cost-related disputes.

Key Responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor:

* Cost Management: Estimate the costs of materials, labour, and time; prepare bills of quantities, budgets, and financial reports.

* Contract & Procurement: Prepare and negotiate tender documents and contracts; manage subcontractors and suppliers.

* Project Monitoring: Track progress, monitor costs, and ensure compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and health and safety regulations.

* Risk Management: Advise on commercial risks and implement strategies to control costs and add value.

* Communication & Reporting: Liaise with all project stakeholders, write detailed reports, and prepare accounts for payment.

* Problem-Solving: Assist in resolving disputes between parties involved in the project and provide strategic advice.

Required Skills & Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree in: Quantity Surveying or Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering

* Professional Certifications (not essential but desirable): RICS, AIQS, ICES, CIOB, ASHRAE, CIBSE

* Analytical & Numerical Skills: Strong ability to analyse data, scrutinise costs, and prepare detailed financial reports.

* Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders, negotiate contracts, and build professional relationships.

* Knowledge of Construction: Sound understanding of construction methods, materials, and relevant laws and regulations.

* Negotiation Skills: To secure the best deals for materials and services and to manage contractual relationships
