They now need a strong Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial / Housing team and drive excellence under JCT and NEC contracts.

Key Responsibilities

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:

1.

Lead cost planning, estimating and tendering for housing and commercial schemes under JCT contracts.

2.

Negotiate and appoint sub-contractors; manage their packages from appointment through to final account.

3.

Produce valuations, variations, and ensure they are submitted in line with contract requirements.

4.

Prepare and deliver monthly cost reports and forecasts; monitor and manage project budgets.

5.

Work closely with Contracts Managers, Site Teams and other stakeholders to deliver quality, cost-efficient outcomes.

6.

Identify cost issues early; propose and deliver corrective action or cost saving measures.

7.

Mentor, support and develop junior quantity surveyors and other commercial staff.

8.

Ensure compliance with quality, safety, environmental and contractual obligations (including JCT clauses etc.).

9.

Manage subcontractor performance and payments; maintain strong supply-chain relationships.

10.

Take responsibility for contractual matters, deal with client commercial issues, assist with contractual negotiations.

11.

Maintain and promote best practice in cost control, risk management, value engineering.

12.

Engage with the community, local suppliers and implement sustainable procurement/environmental policies as required by projects.

What we’re looking for

*

You are a seasoned Senior Quantity Surveyor with 10+ years’ post-graduate experience in housing & commercial builds under JCT contracts.

*

Strong tendering, estimating and variation negotiation experience.

*

Excellent commercial awareness, ability to forecast and manage risk.

*

Proven experience in subcontractor negotiation and final account delivery.

*

Track record of leading / mentoring junior QS or commercial staff.

*

Degree in Quantity Surveying (or related discipline) and professional membership is a plus.

*

Excellent communication & negotiation skills.

*

Valid driving licence and ability to travel to multiple sites across the East Midlands.
