Senior Quantity Surveyor

We're recruiting for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor ready to advance their career or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a highly respected contractor with a 30+ year track record of delivering new build, refurbishment and fit-out schemes across the UK.
With projects typically valued up to £30m, they work across the education, leisure, healthcare and commercial sectors – combining the professionalism of a tier one contractor with the agility and personal touch of a regional builder.
The Role
Your first project will be a new build school extension in Durham, where you'll oversee the full commercial lifecycle – from early procurement and cost planning through to contract administration and final accounts.
You'll split your time between site and office, giving you both hands-on project involvement and the ability to shape the commercial strategy. Beyond this scheme, you'll gain exposure to a varied pipeline of work, including leisure centres, university buildings, healthcare facilities and commercial refurbishments.
Key Responsibilities
Full commercial management of projects up to £30m in value
Leading procurement of subcontractors, materials and professional services
Preparing and managing budgets, valuations, variations and cost reports
Negotiating, managing and closing out final accounts
Driving value engineering and cost efficiency while maintaining quality
Ensuring compliance with contracts and group policies
Building strong, lasting relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain
About You
Experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS, ideally with main contractor background
Previous exposure to education, leisure or commercial projects would be an advantage
Confident with contracts, procurement, budgets and negotiations
Strong communicator who thrives in a collaborative team environment
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar
