Hays are working in partnership with an organisation responsible for the inland waterways in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. They are seeking a Civil or Structural Engineer to be part of their design team in Fermanagh.
This client is dedicated to the management, development, and promotion of inland waterways, focusing on enhancing public enjoyment, preserving heritage, and supporting recreational activities such as boating, cycling, and walking along these waterways.
Their efforts are vital in fostering outdoor recreation and safeguarding the natural and cultural heritage of the region.
Your new role
The Civil/Structural Engineer will help with the development, design, and construction of new and refurbished projects for the inland waterway system.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct surveys, inspections, studies, and evaluations, and write reports.
- Prepare feasibility studies, designs, drawings, tenders, and contract documents.
- Supervise site work.
- Support the delivery of capital works and maintenance programs.
- Help manage and monitor projects to stay within budget and meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Work with environmental officers and external authorities to ensure environmental requirements and best practices are followed.
- Assist in strategic planning and staff supervision.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful for the Civil/Structural Engineering role, you must have the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelors Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Hold a current driving licence and have access to transport which will permit travel throughout Ireland
- A year’s experience in the design office environment
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
